Bhungar Khan | Bhungar Khan is from Taloon ka Gaon village in the Barmer District of Rajasthan (house population 350). Bhugra plays the khartals: castanet-like percussive instruments that produce a staccato rhythm by clicking two flat hardwood blocks together in each hand. Bhugra plays with an energy and intensity that is catching amongst the artists: his piercing blue eyes and precise manipulation of his instrument can inject energy into the group even after eight hours of rehearsing. Already being acknowledged as the young hot artist on the folk scene, he has been invited by the ICCR to play at concerts abroad, on numerous occasions. These include live performances in Norway, Russia, Uzbekistan and Germany. He is also a recognized musician on All India Radio, Barmer. |
